The Importance of Anniversary Trips

Updated: Jun 21, 2022

The celebration of wedding anniversaries can be traced all the way back to the Roman Empire. According to eternityrose.com, “the husbands celebrated their wives by crowning them, especially on Landmark years, such as the 25th. It was this anniversary that the wife would be crowned with a wreath of silver.” The importance of romance appeared to be a priority to the Romans when it came to celebrating their marriages. How much more so today should we be celebrating one of the most important unions in our lives?

My husband and I just got back from #Greece for our 30th anniversary. We have taken other anniversary trips, but this was probably our biggest. When I came back, I reflected on past trips starting back to our honeymoon which was a trip we did not take until 5 years into our marriage and now we look back and wish we had done it right after we got married. All this thought made me realize how much I wanted to put out there to everyone how important anniversary trips are for these trips can keep the romance alive in your marriage.

Let me start with the experience our agents here at Michelle’s Destinations have. We have helped plan small anniversary trips to extravagant ones. We have helped with dream trips and bucket list trips. These dream/bucket list trips have often been for the big years, 5,10, 20 years, and they have been to places like Hawaii, St. Lucia, Paris, and Greece, just to name a few, yet we have planned plenty of trips to Mexico, #Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.

We like to listen to what our customers want and need and help them decide the best place to go and even the best time realizing sometimes we can celebrate our Anniversary at others times of the year. We like to know what our customers are expecting, the length of their trip, if they are flexible on their dates, and if they want to do a vow renewal. Vow renewals are easy to do in these destinations. For example, Tahiti offers a wonderful celebration with an island vibe. In advance we can make spa appointments and set up private tours, especially in places like Paris, Barcelona or #Santorini Greece.

My agency and agents have covered trips across the world, from an Alaskan Cruise to Africa. Lately, I have had several inquire about Mexico City since I just came back from there. So if you are looking for an “off the beaten path” type of trip, this place is different and unusual with so much flavor. You could even take a hot air balloon ride to explore the ruins of #Teotihuacan . However, if your goal is to stay in the United States, we are here for you as well. As a matter of fact, right now river cruises are popular. Again it is unique and exciting. As of right now, the Snake River is the most popular river cruise.

Planning is key, even more so if it is a Europe or Mediterranean destination, so it is best to give us six months in advance so we can find the best options for you. I love it when a customer comes in and simply says, “Find me the perfect trip.” which allows my love for travel mind to take over because I love to spoil my customers and I want them to love their vacations and special moments to be memorable. Finding adventures for them that they may not have ever considered is one of the best things I like to do. For there are so many places in this world that are just waiting to be discovered and I want everyone to discover them with me.

One of Tina Turner’s songs asks, “What’s love got to do with it?” Well, my answer would be A LOT. It was love that led you to get married, and it’s love that keeps you there. Nevertheless, it isn’t just love, but romance as well. The term romance often makes us think of a love story. Let your love story be one of adventures and memories. Love, romance, and memories are key to your marriage, so whether you are celebrating your 1st or 50th wedding anniversary, let Michelle’s Destinations plan your next anniversary trip.
